Our second serious drive of the year is on!  Nelsonians and Blenheimites will drive by their chosen and secret routes to the Motueka Marina, meeting there at 1200hrs.  We will find some new roads taking us on a pleasant cruise of local roads. You will experience some of the wonderful views of our region and pass by farms, orchards and rural lifestyle blocks. You will travel on some roads you have not been on yet.

The highlight is to spend some time at the Motueka Marina where we will have a photoshoot in front of an outstanding sculpture made of stainless steel and thousands of mosaics.  The sculpture project was organised by The Motueka Historical Society with Maeve Allan, the designer and builder of the mosaic pieces. Maeve will be on-site to explain the sculpture.

Lunch will be at the Riwaka Hotel that has been operating for over 160 years and has recently had extensive alterations. New operators Carsten Buschkuchle and Angie Morris (owner of Toad Hall) have joined forces to restore the Hotel to its former glory.

After lunch, your return trip home will be by the shortest route.

Nelsonians will meet at the NMITCarpark (Lower Queen Street Richmond, around 1045 for 1100 departure. Route to Motueka Marina will be advised at the meeting point.

Blenheimers will meet at the CorknKeg in Renwick at 0915 for a 0930 departure.  Our route will be the not so obvious one via SH 63!  Google says it is a 2hrs 18 minute drive of 187 km. You may decide to take the shorter route, to arrive at NMIT by 1045, if you wish.

What you need to bring: $ for lunch.
