Progress is proceeding with New Zealand’s first Porsche the 356 Continental Pre-A Coupe, chassis number 53945. This is a serious bare metal rebuild of the car since it was completed at the Stuttgart factory on 21 July 1955. This work is being carried out in Geraldine for the owner Jon Pottinger of Wellington and is nearing the painting stage.

Also at the same time work is underway in refurbishing the mechanicals and accumulating the other items in Wellington by Jon to complete the car. Jon had to widen his contacts with previous owners and sourced many original parts or items that had been discarded or replaced over the years.

The transmission was rebuilt recently by Jon to demonstrate that he has not lost his touch from when he owned the Powerhaus Workshop in Thorndon, Wellington.
